Mijn dagelijks begeleider tijdens mijn thesis vroeg mij om dit door te sturen. Dus mochten er mensen geinteresseerd, doe dan vooral mee. Je zou haar daar ontzettend mee helpen.

Passive LegGyros Research Study
You are invited to participate in a study gait modulation using passive gyros on legs, conducted at the department of BioMechanical Engineering of the TU Delft, in the Robot Lab. Focus of this study is to investigate the feasibility of passive gyros to modulate gait characteristics which eventually can have an effect on human balance while walking. The study will take up to 3 hour and involves walking while wearing the device. During these activities, the device will impart torques on leg. We will record typical biomechanical data. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. You can participate if you have not been diagnosed with balance problems and to the best of your knowledge, do not experience problems with your health that affect your movement in daily life activities or limit you from carrying your full body weight. In contrast, you are also not a professional athlete or actively involved in physical sports. If you are interested in participation and would like to have more information, please contact us. We will then send you the study information sheet with the experimental protocol and the research informed consent form. Participation would be highly appreciated.

Period of experiment: December 2020-March 2021.

The aim of the study:
The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility of passive gyros for gait modulation.

Eligibility Criteria:
Participants must fulfill the following criteria in order to fit in the device:
1. Height between 5' (60", 1.52 m) to 6' (72",)2 m (height limit for Rysen).
2. Weight between 110 Ib (50 kg) to 165 Ib (75 kg).
3. Age between 18 to 60.

Moreover, participants must not have any of the following medical conditions:
1. Medical issues that impede the subject from carrying the full body weight and ambulation.
2. Medical issues or conditions which might lead to balance impairment, weak bones and/or limit their range of motion i.e. muscular-skeletal issues, neurological disorder etc.
3. Pregnancy.
Moreover, Professional athlete or sportsperson. If you actively do sports, you might not be the best candidate for this study.

What will you do and time commitment:
You will be briefed about all the tasks. Passive reflective markers will be placed on bony structures close to the main joints. EMG sensors will be placed on the skin to record muscle activities. After these preparations, you will be given time to get familiar with the whole setup. You will be asked to perform multiple trials of walking with and without the device attached to your legs. The device may perturb you during walking but is not considered as a safety hazard. The experiment will take no longer than 3 hours.

What will be measured:
Gait modulation using passive gyros on legs

Risks / Discomforts involved in participating:
The experiment is designed as minimal risk for participants.

Confidentiality of your data:
All data will be treated confidentially. Research data are saved anonymous and directly identifiable data (such as name, email address, telephone number) are not linked to the recorded data and will not be kept longer than 6 months. Only the investigators and supervisors as listed above will have access to the data. Upon request, you can have access to your data. You will not be photographed or filmed without knowing. For publication, all data is made anonymous.

Participant’s right:
You may decide to stop being a part of the research study at any time without explanation. You have the right to ask that any data you have supplied to that point be withdrawn/destroyed, without penalty. You have the right to omit or refuse to answer or respond to any question that is asked, without penalty. You have the right to have your questions about the procedures answered (unless answering these questions would interfere with the study's outcome). If any questions arise as a result of reading this information
sheet, you need to ask the investigators before the start of the experiment.

Cost, reimbursement and compensation:
No cost, reimbursement or compensation are applicable for this study.
